Why I Blog

(Written in July of 2010 - still applicable)

Hey World.

I find it amusing that I usually wind up on my blog site at 1:53 AM. Probably because it's always these kind of nights where I'm just not tired. Or if I am, I have something I need to say (or type rather). Well as it is, I once again have something to write about tonight, but I also wanted to right a quick post to explain why I blog. After all, blogging is kind of a nerdy thing to do, and believe me, I am not a nerdy guy. Just weird. Big difference.

So why do i blog? Because I love writing? Yeah. I suppose that's one reason. But why do I get a website for the world to see (or at least 30 of the people in it)? Well, I suppose it's for two reasons.

First of all, I have an enormous imagination. Really take my word for it. I was that kid sitting upside down in the cardboard box pretending i was an astronaut on my way to Mars until my face turned purple from the blood rushing to my head. I was scared of being downstairs by myself because I thought Indians would shoot me with arrows (too many John Wayne's as a kid). I once ran in a circle around my living room for 45 minutes just to see how long i could do it (i was in 9th grade). :)

The point is, I have a big imagination. I'm constantly writing stories in my head, wherever I am. Maybe even as I talk to you. I have written a lot of stories, but most of them never reach paper. And that's okay. I enjoy it. But a mind can only hold so much before it blows up. So I suppose the first reason I blog is because I have so many thoughts, ideas, stories, etc, that I just have to write them somewhere. I have never been good at journaling (to my dad's dismay), but for some reason I really like blogging. So, I guess it's pretty much just my version. No, there's no "Dear Diary, I'm fine, how are you" entries, but those are over-rated anyway.

Reason number two? Simply put, maybe my ideas, thoughts, stories, or whatever will bless someone. And I have pretty thick skin so I really don't care what people think of my writing, so why not let them read it and see what they think, huh?

Well, you learned nothing from this blog (except maybe several reasons never to meet me in person), but at least you now know why I blog...if for whatever reason you cared. :)
